Meet the Staff

Our Interim Pastor

 Pastor Don Boyd

Dear Friends at Calvary Church:

As you might know by now, I’ve been invited to serve as your Interim Pastor for the next foreseeable future. I am really excited about this opportunity to serve the Lord in this way.  Undoubtedly, there will be challenges; growth always involves those!  Challenges are opportunities to see God at work in and through us all.  I believe that, during these days, we have a rather unique opportunity to prepare ourselves to receive a new pastor and to move ahead in God to position ourselves for the days ahead.

First, can I tell you a little about my wife, Sharon, and me? We met at Bible College and married 7 years later. Since then, we’ve been in some form of ministry – the pastorate, missions and Christian education; and I am a credentialed minister with the EMCC.  During our almost 40 years of married life, the Lord has blessed us with two wonderful children, Andrew and Heather, who some of you might remember from our time at Calvary back in the ‘90’s.  They’re both married and have given us 4 grand-children.  Currently, we live outside of Clifford, ON, where we moved a few years ago to open a private retreat centre where pastors and missionaries can come for rest, restoration and re-visioning, as well as some Biblical prayer ministry, if needed.

My duties here, beyond looking after most of the sermons, will include some office and administration details, serving as a reference point for the elders and search committee, and providing some pastoral prayer ministry to those who could use some ‘counselling.’  Anyone wishing to make an appointment can do so through the church office.  Should the need for some crisis counselling or prayer arise, please contact an elder who will then contact me.   You can also reach me by email via the church office at  My official hours will be on Sundays and Mondays, and Monday’s will mostly be my ‘in office’ day.  During the rest of the week, I provide counselling at Caring for the Heart Ministries in Wingham, ON, where we deal primarily with marital counselling and inner healing.

I must say that, from what I’ve gathered, the elders have done an amazing job of providing personal care for the congregation and in providing leadership during these uncertain days.  We’ve never been this way before, have we?  Thankfully, the Lord has not been caught off-guard in all of this; and we can trust him with our futures, as individuals, as families and as a congregation.

Sharon and I are looking forward to getting to know you, to working with you, and to seeing what God will do in this place in the days ahead.  God bless you.
