Meet the Staff

Our  Pastor

Donald Earl Boyd passed away on the morning of August 25th, 2022 at Hospice Wellington, Guelph, after his brief battle with cancer.

Don was born on April 9, 1954 to Wesley and Bertha Boyd (nee Bundy). He was raised in Gravenhurst, and met his bride, Sharon Boyd (nee Hill) at Ontario Bible College. He passed just days before their forty-first wedding anniversary. Together they have two children, Andrew Boyd and his wife Agata Bochenek of Rockwood, and Heather Brnjas and her spouse Jonathan of Wellington County. Their families brought delight and joy to Don’s life. He was proud Poppa to all, and chief fort builder to James, song singer to Grace, movie watcher with Isaac, and digger player to Elijah. He loved his family, and making people laugh and especially getting a grin from his mother-in-law, Iris Hill (late Ivan) of Owen Sound. He is survived by his twin brother, Douglas Boyd (Lois) of Kelowna, and siblings-in-law Cynthia Hill, Pamela Hill, and Andrea (Seann) O’Donoghue all of Owen Sound, and Richard Hill (Luanne) of Winnipeg. He loved being an Uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Don worked as a pastor, missionary, counsellor, and principal throughout his life, and loved teaching the Word, all around the world. Most recently, he embraced and loved his role as Pastor at Calvary Evangelical Missionary Church in Owen Sound.

His family would like to extend deep thanks for exceptional care given by Home CARE Partners in South Bruce and to the exemplary staff at Wellington Hospice. Also, the family appreciates the support shown by the Prayers & Squares quilt ministry of Owen Sound Alliance Church.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Evangelical Missionary Church, 655 10th Street West, Owen Sound, on Saturday, October 8th, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

Donations can be made to Calvary Evangelical Missionary Church (Owen Sound) or Hospice Wellington (Guelph).

Arrangements entrusted to the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th Street West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 3X8, 519-376-7492.

Condolences can be sent to the family by visiting Don’s online memorial at
